About Jenny

A woman with dark hair, wearing a striped sleeveless top and jeans, sitting in a cozy, modern living room chair, smiling, with a notebook in her lap. The living room features a patterned rug, a round pink coffee table, a large potted plant, and sheer curtains.

My passion for social justice and psychology led me to studying these subject areas in my Bachelor’s degree. A curiosity to see more of the world and experience other cultures prompted my solo moves to South Korea and Australia. After an unexpected return home to Canada (Ontario) due to the pandemic, I followed my love of nature and the West Coast and moved to Squamish, a place I have gratefully called home for the past 5+ years.

I have worked in the community mental health/social work sector for the last several years, during which time I completed my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology.

In addition to private practice counselling, my professional experience consists of supporting adults who have experienced violence, trauma, mental health challenges, and the impacts of marginalized social factors; providing housing subsidies to individuals who’ve experienced violence and/or are at risk of homelessness; counselling children & youth in schools throughout Squamish; facilitating Violence is Preventable programs (educational awareness) to elementary school classrooms in community; and freelance writing.

My navigations through life’s challenges and hardships, my professional experience and education, and my personal growth and development engaging in my own therapy all deeply impact my work as a counsellor. I’m greatly inspired by the individuals I work with and I am very honoured to do this work.

I find connection and groundedness by spending time in nature, through being active or reading by the river or a lake; practicing yoga; playing piano; and spending time with friends. I strive to have an ongoing practice of mindfulness, self-compassion, and gratitude.
